Thundering Hearts Motorcycle Ride
On Saturday, May 17, 2008, bikers revved up their engines for the fourth annual Thundering Hearts Motorcycle Ride. 550 riders participated in the 80-mile scenic cruise through eastern Cincinnati. Riders took the opportunity to meet patients and families of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center at Camp Joyful Hearts in Clarksville, Ohio.
Following the cruise, bikers, volunteers, and families gathered around for a celebration featuring fresh food, street vendors, and live music. This year, participants raised nearly $22,000 for Camp Joyful Hearts and the Heart Center Family Retreat Weekend. The next Thundering Hearts Motorcycle Ride will take place May 16th, 2009.
The Heart Center Family Retreat Weekend
The Heart Center Family Retreat Weekend brings patients and their families together for a very informative and inspirational experience. During the event, parents will have a chance to listen to guest speakers and take part in expert panel discussions. Throughout the weekend, parents have the opportunity to participate in team-building activities, while their children take part in fun camp activities like hiking and scavenger hunts. Children will also enjoy participating in Sibshop—a workshop for the siblings of children living with chronic health issues.
